Vibrant Ties

Integrated Urban Space

Location: West Point Grey, Vancouver
Site area: 13,000 sf

UBC MUD Design Studio I, 2024
Individual Work

This project showcases a block-scale intervention that transforms the West Point Grey neighborhood into a connected and vibrant community.

Once a quiet residential enclave, the area now embraces the opportunity to redefine its urban fabric by seamlessly integrating public and private realms in response to the new SkyTrain extension and evolving community needs. Street parking is relocated to laneways as parking requirements are relaxed, reducing congestion and encouraging residents to engage with their surroundings on foot or by bike.

A diverse mix of housing types emerges alongside above-ground semi-private spaces and open shopfronts, creating a welcoming environment that leverages the neighborhood’s proximity to UBC and the expanding transit-oriented communities nearby. This approach aims to balance livability and inclusivity while fostering a sustainable, dynamic, and cohesive neighborhood for decades to come.
